Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome back!  We had a wonderful school opening, thank you.  The entire staff is very excited, enthusiastic and eager to begin our work together this year.

Our regular school hours include our extended intervention time, allowing all students to receive additional instructional time.  We will continue using our automated telephone service to remind parents of upcoming events etc.  Parents have given me positive feedback about this system, and our OnCourse gradebook site.  This site allows parents to monitor their children’s progress throughout the year.  If you do not have a password, you will be receiving a notice in about 2 weeks containing your username and password for the site.

Open school week is scheduled the week of September 19th.  Parents are welcome to come to meet their child’s teacher and visit the classroom.  A brief orientation will take place in the auditorium at 1:00, parents will then be escorted to the classrooms.  The schedule is as follows:

Kindergarten and First Grade – Tuesday, September 20th at 1:00 pm

Second and Third Grade – Wednesday, September 21st at 1:00 pm

Fourth and Fifth Grade – Thursday, September 22nd at 1:00 pm

Recently, 2011 State ELA and Math scores were released and we are proud to say that our students, your children performed nicely.  We are still awaiting our official report card and we’re confident that our school will continue with its “A” rating.

Teachers are working collaboratively within the grade and across grades to ensure that we’ve developed rigorous curriculum maps to support and challenge your child.  In the next several days, we hope to begin our afterschool programs.  As you know all schools received a decrease in funds this year, and we’re hopeful that we can continue to provide a variety of programs.

Please make sure you update your contact phone numbers on the blue card and check the ARIS Parent Link to ensure information is accurate.  It’s important that you visit our school website often, including parent links and teacher pages.  Keep in contact with your child’s teacher throughout the school year.  A strong partnership between parents and school is the cornerstone to a great education.

With Continued Appreciation,

Ms. Biondollilo
