Kindergarten students for September 2013

posted Jul 18, 2013, 5:27 AM by Felicia Ippolito

We are happy to welcome your child to Kindergarten in September.  To make the transition from home to Kindergarten as easy as possible for you and your child, we are asking for your cooperation with the following:

·      The first day of school, Monday, September 9th, will be a half day for all kindergarten students.  On this day, you will arrive at 9:00 a.m. and remain with your child until 11:00 a.m.  You will enter the school by the silver doors on 109th street (middle of block) where you will be greeted by your child’s new teacher and see the assigned table where you will pick up your child at dismissal each day.  You will then be escorted with your child to his/her new classroom where the teacher can answer any general questions that you may have.  There will be an official Meet the Teacher meeting that will be scheduled sometime in September for more curriculum based questions.

·      Beginning on Tuesday, September 10th ,  and continuing for the rest of the year, your child’s hours of attendance will be from 8:00 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.  Mondays through Thursdays. The dismissal time on Fridays is 1:45 p.m.  All kindergarten students will enter each morning by the silver doors no earlier that 7:45 a.m.

·      Dismissal everyday starting Tuesday, September 10th will be in the new cafeteria. You must enter the cafeteria from the back of the playground and exit either by the ramp or by the silver doors.  Doors remain open from 2:35 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and from 1:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Fridays.  To avoid a recorded lateness, please make proper arrangements to have your child picked up on time.  In addition, all students are expected to be in on time each day by 8:00 a.m.

·      Parents will be assigned days to bring in supplies. DO NOT BRING IN SUPPLIES the first day of school (supply list attached).

Have a great summer and we will see you in September!

                                                                                           Sincerely,

                                                                                           M. Szczerba

                                                                                           Assistant Principal
