#10 - New POS system in the lunchroom

posted Oct 23, 2014, 6:06 AM by Felicia Ippolito

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Things are changing in our school cafeteria.  Our school will soon be using a new computerized point of sale (POS) system during breakfast and lunch.  The purpose of this letter is to explain the new system and to ask for your cooperation over the next few weeks as we implement this program.

Children will be given a four digit access code that they will use every time they eat the school lunch.  The letter attached will contain each child’s individual access code.  We ask that you review it with your child and ask them not to share it with anyone.  We understand that this will be challenging for the lower grade students and there will be school staff available to assist them in the lunchroom.

Here are some system benefits:

  • Does not openly identify free or reduced eligible students.
  • Students can be looked up by class or ID number, speeding meal service.
  • Tracks all meals, purchases and payments made by your student.
  • Only debits your child’s account when your child takes lunch.

Payments for meals

  1. At the school:  You may continue to pay at the school by sending payments in with your child or going directly to the main office.
  2. Online: An easy, fast and simple meal payment system will now be available.  Enrolling and funding your child’s account is competed online through  http://www.mylunchMoney.com

Once you establish an account, you can check balances, review purchases made by your child, quickly authorize additional payments or establish recurring payments conveniently from any computer or smart phone.

Complete instructions are available at http://www.mylunchMoney.com

a.       Money will be available for your child to use once the POS system is implemented and available 24-hours after you complete any online transaction thereafter.

b.       Student accounts are registered on http://www.mylunchMoney.com using their OSIS number as their Student ID number.  This 9 digit number is not your child’s social security number.  You may contact our main office for the student ID (OSIS) number if you do not know it.

Why should I use the myLunchMoney.com website?

  • Easy: You will no longer need to send money for your child’s lunch with your child.
  • Convenient: Once your account is established you can check balances, view purchases, and fund the account from a computer or smart phone.
  • Automatic Payment: Can be set to deposit money to your child’s account when the low balance is reached so that money will always be available in your child’s account.
  • Secure: Your personal and payment card information is protected by the most advanced internet security.

As always, our goal is to provide nutritious meals in an attractive environment.  We appreciate your support in using this exciting new computerized system.

Sincerely,

M. Biondollilo

Principal
